Film and television producer David Hoberman visited Suffolk University last week to mentor 12 student screenwriters.
The two-day workshop with Hoberman (a onetime Oscar nominee and former member of the school’s board of trustees) had the students discussing scripts that were sent to them in advance, and then delving into their own works-in-progress. The next step for students will be to work with screenwriting professor Jean-Paul DiSciscio to develop their projects into full-length scripts. Hoberman also told students they could send their work to be reviewed by the staff at his company, Mandeville Films.
Hoberman’s credits include “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Muppets,” and a few locally-made films including “Stronger,” the Oscar-nominated “The Fighter,” and “The Proposal.”
