Now Gargano is returning to the “American Ninja Warrior” obstacle course for the regional qualifier for Season 10, the show premiering on NBC on May 30. She was on Season 7 back in 2015, but her previous stint on the obstacle course was not televised.
“After 3 years of working my butt off to get on again after competing on Season 7 I get another change to compete on the course,” Gargano posted on Instagram in April 17, accompanied by photos of her smiling in an ANW jacket. “Time to step up my training and make this happen.”
The fitness guru owns AG Athletics, a training space in Cranston that combines weights and traditional classes with gymnastics and so called “ninja training.” Before the full-time switch to fitness, she worked for pharmaceutical company Genzyme, having graduated Rhode Island College with a degree in biological chemistry.
“I was going to go get my PhD but didn’t get into the schools I wanted and was getting upset,” Gargano said. “During that time I was also doing fitness competitions and then I was helping friends train and thought I would really enjoy doing this for a living. So I just quit my job and I started teaching parents at the gymnastics studio I was at and it all emerged from there. It was a big switch and a big risk, but I’m really glad I took it.”
To add to her accolades, she also holds the titles of Miss Fitness America 2016, Miss Bikini New England 2016, and Miss Fitness Boston 2013 to name a few.
